MLK Day of Service Supporting The Parenting PATH’s Pinwheels Thrift Store and Family Center

On Monday, January 20, a maxed capacity of 25 volunteers experienced a different degree of ‘Retail Therapy’ by spending time at Pinwheels – The Parenting PATH’s Thrift Store and Family Center! Regarded as “Winston-Salem’s only boutique thrift store for the WHOLE family!”, volunteers helped to sort and display clothing and accessories, assemble display racks and units, and finished indoor beautification tasks. When asked how they landed on this volunteer opportunity, a married couple said “we wanted to do SOMETHING today, saw the listing and here we are! We really enjoyed it!”

Volunteers along with The Parenting PATH staff members, were able to work alongside Sheetz employees who brought and displayed their marketing Jeep as well! Elizabeth Miller, Executive Director for Parenting PATH expressed that “if it wasn’t for United Way and the volunteers, I do not know what I would have done to get this place ready for our event Wednesday. I am so appreciative of everyone who volunteered!”
