About the Assignment:
Seeking Male Mentors to interact and/or speak with a group of 4 to 6, fourth-grade male students as a part of a leadership and character development program for six weeks starting Monday, March 20, 2023 through Monday, May 8, 2023 from 9:45 AM – 10:45AM.

A full 6-week commitment is neither necessary nor a requirement but encouraged.

Individuals interested in volunteering to be a mentor, can select 1 date or multiple dates.

Purpose Statement:
In response to an on-going need to connect male youth with adults with a desire to help students identify and build leadership skills and promote emotional, physical, and mental growth, United Way of Forsyth County’s African American Leadership Society is seeking male AALS members to serve as mentors for male students at Mineral Springs Elementary School supporting its leadership and character development program.

REQUIREMENTS and IMPORTANT INFORMATION for AALS VOLUNTEERS SUPPORTING WINSTON-SALEM/FORSYTH COUNTY SCHOOLS (WS/FCS)
To ensure the safety of the staff and students at Mineral Springs Elementary School, volunteers are asked to adhere to the following requirements.
- BACKGROUND CLEARANCE for VOLUNTEERS: Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools requires ALL volunteers to be cleared to volunteer which requires completing a background screening. *PLEASE COMPLETE SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT

- Once the process starts, it should only take a few minutes. https://www.wsfcsvolunteers.com/
- When directed to list the schools in which you are looking to volunteer, find and select “Mineral Springs Elementary School”.
- Immediately after submitting the completed application, the system will send an automated e-mail from “emailverification@wsfcsvolunteers.com.” This e-mail MUST be opened and then a link clicked to activate the application so it can be processed for approval.
- Once cleared to volunteer, look for an email from clearance@wsfcsvolunteers.com.
- UWFC Waiver IS REQUIRED: Volunteers will be asked to complete a United Way of Forsyth County Photo and Participation waiver. These forms will be available on site.
